Discount impact calculator

See how a discount changes unit profit and required sales.

Amounts are before VAT and tax. The comparison assumes unchanged unit costs and fixed expenses; include fees and per-unit expenses in cost.

Calculation result

Complete the fields and select Calculate result. Enter 0 for costs that do not apply.

Calculated from your inputs. Figures are not saved or imported from your books. All amounts are in ILS. Results are rounded to two decimal places.

How is it calculated?

Apply the discount to the sale price, then compare unit profit before and after it. Required sales growth is original unit profit divided by discounted unit profit, minus 1.

Worked example

An ILS 100 price and ILS 60 cost give ILS 40 profit. A 10% discount reduces profit to ILS 30; approximately 33.33% more units are needed to maintain profit.

Common questions

Can more sales always compensate for a discount?

Only when the discounted unit still earns a positive profit. If the price equals or falls below cost, selling more cannot restore the original profit.
